Converters Expo South, returning to Charlotte, NC, USA for the second time, drew considerable crowds to the Charlotte Convention Center on February 5. The one-day exhibition welcomed 87 exhibiting companies, featuring suppliers from many areas of the labels and packaging industry.

The event serves as a complement to its sister show, Converters Expo, which occurs each Spring in Green Bay, WI, USA. Converters Expo will take place at Lambeau Field from March 27-28.

Converters Expo South, meanwhile, provides a strong regional presence for the Southeastern United States. BST North America and Pinncale Converting Equipment served as key sponsors for the event.

“We look forward to bringing the industry together for Converters Expo South in Charlotte, a central location to the second largest converting corridor in the nation,” said Glen Gudino, Group publisher for BNP Media Packaging Group.

According to Nick Schmidt, new business development at Delta ModTech, Converters Expo South grew significantly from 2018. He cited equal parts interest in Frontier’s coating technologies, in addition to Delta ModTech’s versatile converting machinery.

The event drew a multitude of industry players, ranging from Harper Corporation of America, Vetaphone and Flexo Wash to Polymag Tek, Chase Machine and Engineering, and Rotoflex. Harper’s Jazmin Siancas detailed XLT Xtreme Laser technology, which features enhanced surface characteristics and enhanced cell cavities, as well as the QD Proofing System. This system is fully portable and allows printers to boost pressroom efficiency. Harper’s technical service support team has also been named a Level 3 FIRST implementation specialist.

hubergroup experts were on-hand to detail the company’s latest ink offerings, while Meech International discussed static control–headlined by the Hyperion range. hubergroup offers solvent-based, water-based, and UV LED flexo inks and coatings, and it features multiple locations throughout North America to meet customer demands.

Pete Mulheran, vice president and general manager of Eaglewood Technologies, also noted an increased turnout at Converters Expo South, adding that his company would be present at Converters Expo in Green Bay, as well.

Mulheran was on-hand to discuss his company’s assortment of anilox cleaning equipment, including Sitexco and Laserlox. In addition, Baldwin Vision Systems and Eye-C America were available to explore the industry’s latest inspection equipment.

The Rotoflex booth featured both Rotoflex and Mark Andy experts, who were available to explain a wide range of solutions. Mark Andy highlighted the Digital and Performance Series presses, while Rotoflex focused on the DF3, a highly-configurable off-line finishing and converting system.

Joe Walczak of Sonic Solutions highlighted the company’s Ultrasonic Cleaning Systems for anilox sleeves. According to Walczak, Sonic Solutions will customize solutions for individual sleeve specifications. Sonic’s new Phoenix Series features gentler ultrasonics, external generators, removable transducers and heaters with low level protections.
